It is essential to have regular work parties to keep on top of the management of the heath. The Red Lodge Conservation Group meets on the first Saturday of each month at the Millennium Centre (see map on homepage). We start at 9am and usually finish about 11.30am.
The work varies throughout the year but often includes:
- maintaining paths
- clearing scrub
- creating flower-rich grassland
- managing woodland
- keeping the site clear of litter
These work days are also social occasions and an opportunity to share knowledge about the local area and environment.
Further information on the next work day you can contact Forest Heath District Council on 01638 719000.
Other ways to help
If you wish to get involved in less energetic activities, the conservation group committee would always welcome assistance with accounts, fundraising and the promotion of activities within the community. There are bi-monthly meetings in the church hall.
